How to get something 3D printed in the UK

You don't need to own a 3D printer. The quickest way to get a part 3D printed in the UK is to upload a model to an online printing service, choose your options, pay, and have the finished part posted to you. The process, step by step

1. Get a model. You need a 3D model file. Either design one yourself in CAD, commission a freelance 3D modeller, or download a ready-made one — see our where to find 3D models page. Check each model's licence before ordering; most are free to print for yourself, but some are personal- or non-commercial-use only.
2. Export or download an STL or 3MF. STL is the universal 3D-printing format; 3MF is a newer one that can also carry colours and units. We accept both. If you're unsure, our STL guide covers it.
3. Upload it for an instant price. Drop the file onto the quote tool. Your browser measures the model's volume, size and weight locally — the file isn't uploaded until you actually order — and you get a price calculated from real material and machine costs, not a rough guess.
4. Choose your options. Pick the print quality and a colour. Instant orders are single-colour premium PLA+ (black, white, blue or red). For multicolour prints or specialist materials, use the custom print form instead.
5. Pay securely. The price you see is the price you pay. Card payment is handled by Stripe at checkout, and we check every file by hand before printing — if we can't print it as quoted, you're refunded in full.
6. We print and post it. Most orders are made and dispatched the next working day (a larger part or busy queue can take up to ~4 days). Every UK order is sent fully tracked with Royal Mail, and you can follow it on our Track page.

What you can have printed

Common jobs are prototypes, replacement and spare parts, enclosures and housings, brackets and jigs, and display or hobby models. The main limits to know:

• Size: a single part must fit our 250 × 250 × 250 mm build volume. Larger models can often be split into sections and joined — add a note or email us.
• Rights: you must own or be licensed to print the design. We can't print copyrighted or trademarked models you're not authorised to reproduce, or restricted items — see our Terms.
• Design: we're a print service, not a design studio — you supply a print-ready file. We can usually auto-repair a mesh that isn't watertight at no charge.

One part or many?

A single part is no problem — there's no minimum order. You can also order multiple identical copies straight from the quote card, where each additional copy shares the setup work and costs less than the first. For larger or recurring production runs, our Manufacturing service handles batches, repeat orders and production samples.
