Layer&LoopStore

Terms

The plain-English rules for ordering from LayerAndLoopStore.

Version 2026-10-10 · effective 10 October 2026

What we will and won't print

We will not knowingly print:

  • Food-contact items.
  • Designs you do not own or have permission to reproduce. By ordering, you confirm that you own or are licensed to use the uploaded design.
  • Products intended or marketed as children's toys. We do not offer the product-safety assessment or certification required for toys placed on the market.
  • Real or imitation firearms, realistic or non-functional firearm replicas, firearm or weapon parts and accessories, other lethal weapons, or anything unlawful to make, supply or possess in the UK.
  • Anything we reasonably believe is intended to cause harm or facilitate unlawful activity.

We may ask what a model is for before printing. We may decline or cancel an order only where we have a reasonable ground, including legality, safety or intellectual-property concerns, technical impossibility, an unavailable agreed material, or an obvious pricing error. We will explain the reason where appropriate. If payment has already been taken, we will refund the cancelled order in full to the original payment method.

Props, recreational items & accessories

We may accept lawful cosplay props, decorative models, foam-dart accessories, stands, holders and mounts where they are not firearms, imitation firearms, weapon components, intended as children's toys, or otherwise unsafe or unlawful. Listing a category here does not guarantee acceptance; every file is checked on its own facts.

You must describe the intended purpose of a part accurately when we ask. Our acceptance does not confirm that a part is suitable for a particular installation or use.

Safety

Our products are custom 3D-printed articles, not certified toys. Keep them away from children: parts may contain small components and sharp edges. PLA+ softens above approximately 55 °C, so keep it away from heat sources, vehicle dashboards and direct summer sun. Indoor use is recommended unless we have agreed a suitable material and use in writing.

Finish & appearance

Parts are supplied as printed. We do not sand, smooth, paint, polish, fill or otherwise post-process them unless we have expressly agreed it in writing. Expect visible layer lines, minor blemishes, small marks or stringing, slight colour or gloss variation between prints and batches, and some surface roughness — particularly on overhangs, bridges and the underside where support material was removed. These are normal characteristics of FDM 3D printing, not defects, and are not grounds for a refund on their own.

Where a model needs support material or a raft to print, we remove it by hand with best effort to preserve the finish and detail of the part. Where support or raft material cannot be removed easily — for example in tight recesses, or where removing it would risk damaging the part — small amounts may be left in place. Residual support marks, nubs, contact points or light scarring where supports met the part are normal characteristics of 3D printing, not defects.

Product limitations & liability

Our prints are made by fused-filament 3D printing in PLA+ or another material we have agreed. They can have visible layer lines, dimensional tolerances and direction-dependent strength and must not be assumed to be safety-critical components.

Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, our products are not certified or tested for safety-critical, load-bearing, protective, medical, automotive or another application where failure could cause injury or significant property damage. You are responsible for checking fitment, suitability and safe installation before use.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Subject to those rights, we are not responsible for loss caused by using a part outside the limitations stated here or contrary to our safety guidance.

Quotes

Online quotes are instant estimates calculated from your model's measured volume, size and weight. For instant STL/3MF orders, the quoted total is the amount presented for payment at checkout. We check every file manually before printing. If a file cannot be printed as ordered, we will not print it and will refund any payment in full. Unpaid quotes are held for 7 days from submission; after payment, the contract price is fixed unless you agree a change. Promotional or discount codes (for example WELCOME10) are subject to their stated conditions — including any minimum order value and first-order eligibility — and cannot reduce an order below our costs. Where an order already benefits from a volume or multi-item discount, a code may apply a reduced amount or none at all; the price shown at checkout is always the price you pay.

Orders & payment

By placing an order you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms. A contract forms when payment succeeds. Instant STL/3MF orders are paid at checkout through Stripe, including the delivery option selected. Custom and multicolour requests are reviewed and quoted by hand, then paid through a secure link before production. Production starts after cleared payment and file acceptance. Typical turnaround is 1–4 days from payment to dispatch.

Custom & multicolour orders

Custom requests for specialist materials, non-standard colours or painted multicolour models are handled separately from instant quotes and carry a £25 minimum charge. The final price is confirmed after we review the file and check current stock.

  • Materials and colours depend on stock. If an agreed option is unavailable, we will ask you to approve an alternative; we never substitute without permission.
  • We do not offer a design, modelling or painting service. A multicolour order must be supplied as a painted 3MFwith colour regions already assigned.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of your supplied file. We will flag obvious issues during review but cannot guarantee the result of a file containing errors.

Shipping

UK orders use Royal Mail Tracked 48 by default. Royal Mail Tracked 24 can be selected where offered. The selected service, delivery charge and Royal Mail delivery aim are shown before payment and recorded with the order; delivery aims are estimates rather than guarantees. Tracking is provided when the parcel is prepared or dispatched. Risk passes to you on delivery. If a parcel arrives damaged, please contact us with photographs within 48 hours where possible so we can investigate promptly. Reporting it later does not affect your statutory rights.

Cancellations, problems & returns

Every print is made to the customer's supplied specification, so the usual 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right for distance sales does not normally apply. Separately, as our own more generous policy, we will cancel and refund an order in full if you contact us before it is queued for printing — that is, before we have prepared its print files and placed it in the print queue, shown as “Queued for printing” on your tracking page. Before payment you can cancel online from the tracking page.

Your statutory rights remain unaffected. If an item is faulty, misdescribed or damaged in transit, contact us and we will provide the remedy required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which may include a refund, repair, replacement or authorised reprint as appropriate. Refunds are returned to the original payment method.

Model files, permission & privacy

You confirm that you own the design or have permission to use and reproduce it. You give Kian Low (trading as LayerAndLoopStore) permission to inspect, prepare, repair where needed, slice and reproduce the model only to quote, fulfil and support your order. This permission is non-exclusive and temporary. This covers the ordered quantity and an authorised replacement or reprint. Ownership does not transfer to us and we do not reuse the design for another customer or for stock.

Quoting happens in your browser and your model is not uploaded unless you place an order. Uploaded models and stored production files are used only to fulfil and support the order, never sold or shared for marketing, and deleted within 30 days after fulfilment or cancellation. See our Privacy Notice.

Layer & Loop Manufacturing — additional terms

These additional terms apply to the managed production service and sit alongside the terms above. They do not change how the instant online service works.

Manufacturing terms version 2026-08-25 · effective 25 August 2026

About the Manufacturing service

Layer & Loop Manufacturing is a managed FDM production service — short production runs, recurring manufacture, samples, quality checks, packaging and dispatch. It is a trading brand of Kian Low, a sole trader trading as LayerAndLoopStore and as Layer & Loop Manufacturing. It is not a separate company or legal entity, and is not VAT registered, so no VAT is added and quoted totals are the totals payable.

These Manufacturing terms sit alongside, and are additional to, the terms above. The service is aimed primarily at business customers; where you deal with us as a consumer, your statutory rights apply and nothing here reduces them. Provisions that apply only to business customers are marked “business customers”.

How a production order is agreed

A Manufacturing order follows a review-first sequence:

  1. Indicative estimate — a planning indication only. It is not an offer, not a formal quote, and does not carry the instant service's price promise.
  2. Project review — we review the file, material and production requirements.
  3. Formal quote — a numbered, versioned quote for one or more exact quantity options, valid until its stated expiry.
  4. Acceptance — you accept a specific quantity/option. A draft or unsent quote is not an offer you can accept.
  5. Payment or agreed payment terms — payment in full, a deposit and balance, or a manually agreed purchase-order/trade arrangement.
  6. Production — scheduled once the agreed payment or terms are in place and the specification is approved.

A binding production agreement forms when you accept a specific quote option and we confirm that acceptance together with the agreed payment or payment terms. Until then either side may decline without charge.

Estimates and formal quotes

A Manufacturing estimate is indicative and subject to file, material and production review; it is not the final production quote and the instant service's price promise does not apply to it.

A formal quote states the quote number and version, the exact quantity option(s), the unit price, delivery, any separately agreed charges, any sample credit and the total payable. It is valid for 30 days from issue unless stated otherwise. A sent quote is fixed for its version: if the price, quantity, material, production assumptions, delivery or payment terms change, we issue a new version and the previous one can no longer be accepted. An accepted quote and its accepted option are retained as your commercial record. No VAT is added.

Materials

We manufacture in a range of FDM materials supported by our production equipment and selected for the requirements of your project — including PLA-family materials, PETG, TPU, PVA and ABS, and, where the production setup and application are suitable, materials such as ASA and fibre-filled PLA/PETG. Material suitability and availability are confirmed during production review, considering printer configuration and nozzle compatibility, any enclosure or environment requirements, the filament manufacturer's recommendations, the part geometry and application, sourcing, and successful production validation where required.

No single filament is a permanent default. Our production equipment uses a hardened-steel nozzle (up to 300 °C); representative materials include PLA family, PETG, TPU, PVA, ABS, ASA, PLA-CF, PETG-CF. A material being technically printable does not make it an approved production material for your part — availability is confirmed during production review. We do not offer resin/SLA printing.

Samples

Where a pre-production sample is offered it may be complimentary, paid, and either creditable (its price is credited against a subsequent production order) or non-creditable — we tell you which before you pay. You may approve or reject a sample.

Approving a sample means accepting it against the agreed sample and Approved Production Specification. Because these are additively-manufactured parts, it is not a promise that every unit will be microscopically identical; normal process variation within the agreed specification is expected. If the specification changes after approval, a further review, revised quote or new sample may be needed. Your statutory rights are unaffected.

Approved Production Specification (APS)

The APS is the agreed production setup for your run. It can record the approved file revision, material, filament/colour, production settings, orientation and supports, quality checks, packaging and acceptance criteria. Production proceeds against the APS.

A later change to the file, material or specification may require review, a revised quote, a new sample or a revised APS. Approving the APS does not transfer to you our responsibility for carrying out the agreed manufacturing with reasonable care and skill.

Your files, permission and intellectual property

You confirm that you own the supplied design or hold sufficient licence/permission to have the requested quantity manufactured. You give Kian Low (trading as Layer & Loop Manufacturing) a non-exclusive permission, for this purpose only, to inspect, prepare, slice, manufacture and quality-check the design, to reprint or replace where authorised, and to retain the production file only where you have separately agreed retention for repeat production. Ownership does not transfer to us and we do not reuse your design for another customer.

We do not carry out formal legal IP clearance on submitted designs and rely on your confirmation of rights. We may decline or stop a job where we reasonably believe rights, legality or safety are in doubt.

Production file retention

Ordinary uploaded files follow our normal retention policy and are deleted within 30 days after fulfilment or cancellation. As an exception, where you opt in to production-file/specification retention for repeat or recurring manufacture, we keep the approved file for the agreed retention period so we can reproduce your part. You can ask us to delete a retained file at any time, subject to any records we are lawfully required to keep. See our Privacy Notice.

Recurring and call-off production (business customers)

A recurring or call-off arrangement may set an overall committed quantity, call-off release quantities, a release process, price-review points, indicative lead times, and any customer-specific reserved material. Material availability and pricing can be reviewed at the agreed points. A specification change may require re-quoting. You may cancel future, unreleased call-offs; work already in production, completed stock and material specifically committed or sourced for you remain payable. We do not operate automatic recurring card billing — releases are confirmed with you.

Material sourcing

Depending on the project we may use standard stocked material, source a specific brand/product/SKU, source customer-specific material, or accept customer-supplied filament where we have expressly agreed to. Where material is specially sourced for you, how any unused material is handled follows your individual project agreement rather than an automatic assumption either way.

Assembly and hardware

Where agreed, a project may include inserts, screws, magnets, bearings or other hardware (sourced by us or supplied by you), assembly and simple kitting. We carry out the agreed assembly with reasonable care and skill. You remain responsible for the specification and suitability of components you supply, unless we have expressly agreed to select or specify them. This does not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Packaging, delivery and dispatch

Production orders may be delivered in bulk or as scheduled dispatches, with standard or (where agreed) custom packaging, and tracking where available. White-label/plain dispatch applies only where expressly agreed. Delivery aims are estimates, and carrier delays outside our reasonable control are not our responsibility, though we will help resolve them. Please report a damaged or lost delivery promptly, with photographs where possible, so we can investigate. Reporting a problem late does not affect your statutory rights.

Pricing and payment

Manufacturing pricing separates the production price, delivery, any separately agreed packaging or sourcing charges, any sample credit, and any deposit and balance, and shows the total payable. There are no hidden mandatory charges and no VAT is added. We accept card payment via Stripe; bank transfer, a deposit/balance split, or a purchase-order/invoice/trade arrangement may be agreed manually. Trade credit is never automatic and is granted only where we have expressly approved it.

Product limitations and safety

Parts are made by fused-filament 3D printing. They can have visible layer lines, dimensional tolerances and direction-dependent (anisotropic) strength, and each material has its own temperature and environmental limits. You are responsible for confirming that a part is suitable for your intended application, installation and environment.

Unless we have expressly agreed otherwise in writing, parts are not certified or tested for safety-critical, load-bearing, protective or regulated applications. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights.

Applications we do not accept without review

We do not automatically accept parts for medical use, PPE, structural or safety-critical components, pressure-containing systems, mains electrical safety components, vehicle safety systems, products intended or marketed as children's toys, food-contact applications, or other uses requiring certification or conformity assessment. We will consider such work only where it has been specifically reviewed and we have deliberately agreed to it under an appropriate compliance arrangement. Our firearms, weapon-part and unlawful-item restrictions above apply equally to Manufacturing.

Cancellation and your rights

Production items are typically made to your specification. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, the 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply to goods that are made to your specifications or are clearly personalised. Separately, as our own policy, we will cancel and refund in full where you contact us before payment and production begin.

This does not affect your remedies for goods that are faulty, not as described or otherwise legally non-conforming. Consistent with the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods should be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for a particular purpose where that legal test applies. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.

Liability (business customers)

For business customers, and subject always to the limitations that cannot lawfully be excluded, our liability arising out of a production order is limited to the price paid for the affected order, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss arising from your use of a part outside the agreed specification or our stated limitations. We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing here affects a consumer's statutory rights.

Events outside our reasonable control

We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control — for example carrier disruption, widespread power or network outages, supplier failure, an unavoidable equipment breakdown, or material unavailability. Where one occurs we will let you know and agree a reasonable revised timescale. This does not excuse ordinary poor performance.
