How to get an STL file printed if you don't own a 3D printer

What is an STL file?

An STL is the most common 3D printing format. It describes a model's surface as a mesh of triangles, ready to be sliced and printed. Almost every CAD and 3D-modelling program can export one. If your file is a 3MF instead, that's fine too — it's a newer format that can also store colours and units, and we accept both. (More on the difference in our how-to guide.)

You don't need to buy a printer

A desktop 3D printer, the filament, and the time to learn slicing and troubleshooting only make sense if you'll print regularly for years. For a one-off, a spare part, or an occasional prototype, an online service is far cheaper and quicker: the service owns the machine, buys the material, handles the slicing and supports, and deals with any failed prints — you just receive the finished part.

Pick quality and colour. Instant orders are single-colour PLA+. For multicolour or specialist materials, use the custom print form.
Pay and receive it. Pay securely by card at checkout; we hand-check the file, print it, and post it fully tracked with Royal Mail. Follow progress on the Track page.

Is my file private?

Yes. Your model is analysed entirely in your browser and is only uploaded to private storage when you place an order. We use it solely to prepare, print and quality-check your order, we never share your files, and uploaded models are deleted within 30 days of fulfilment. See our Privacy Notice for detail.
